Withdrawal
For those who are trying to end a serious addiction to drugs and alcohol, know that there's more to it than "just stopping". That's because the psychological pains of withdrawing are often coupled with very real physical distress, manifested in withdrawal symptoms, such as increased heart-rate, breathing difficulty, headaches, vision problems and even seizures. By no means should this dissuade you or someone you love from quitting cocaine, heroin, alcohol or any other addictive substance, it just means you need to be prepared and to do a withdrawal properly! A medicine-assisted withdrawal from drug or alcohol use may include a course of Suboxone or Subutex, or perhaps Depad, ReVia or Vivitrol to help the user over the withdrawing process and into recovery.
